Looking to create a shady corner with a bench - it's surrounded by yew hedges - but quite private - no particularly lovely views
I am thinking about maybe a sort of "stumpery/stickery" feel but not sure i have the funds for the amazing stumps Have seen in bigger garden

Is it dry or moist shade? Assuming dry because of the yew. White Japanese anemomes would look lovely, enrich the soil well before planting and they should be ok, also the big astrantia. I would put in cyclamen (for spring and for autumn) . Again if you mulch well then hellebores could look lovely too.

Pulmonaria are great for shady spots and the bees love them. I love cyclamen too. Snowdrops, hellebores, bluebells, Thalictrum, campanulas and fox gloves are all things we have in shady areas.

I have geranium in a shady corner along with hellebores, ferns and hostas. Put in a few bulbs for seasonal colour / interest.
