Anyone know anything about boxwoods?

I have two boxwood plants that I’m worried about. Images below. The one with three balls has dead brown leaves all over it. The cloud tree is getting new growth but the leaves are white and brittle. Does anyone know what’s going on and what I should do about it? Any help at all would be much appreciated!

Probably Box Blight? I don't think it is worth trying to salvage them tbh. You need to thoroughly clean th containers they are in before replacing with same but I would go with something else entirely to avoid it happening again!

Box tree caterpillar moths dot his damage

You need to get some granular that kill them off. You just dissolve them in water and spray on the plant every three months.

We managed to save 90% of our hedge but a couple of bushes were beyond saving.

The caterpillars are green, yellow and black the moths are white

Thanks @sickofthisnonsense i really don’t want to lose them completely so desperate to do anything to save them. Do you think that’s the issue with both plants or just one of them?

Any shrub / small tree is hard work if you keep it in a pot. It restricts their roots, they dry out, poor nutrition etc…. This makes box very susceptible to blight and moth damage. Or, all those plants are just very sorry for themselves.

If you’re determined to keep new plants (I think those have had it), they need much bigger pots and to be treated like newborns.

Have a look for the caterpillars, they spin silk and stick leaves together.

If it is these then it will depend on how much damage they have already done.
Our worst effected bushes are still recovering and I'm not sure they will ever get really thick again.
The moths appear every year so you have to keep killing them off

Apparently boxwoods are hungry plants.

Since finding this out I give them diluted tomato feed regularly and use strulch as a mulch every autumn.

Fussy about when I prune, not too hot, not too cold. Have been known to use sun umbrellas if the sun appears and still in the middle of pruning. Only use one set of shears for them and disinfect after each bush is pruned. Brush up carefully afterwards.

Touch wood mine are doing well atm. Feel obligated as the previous owner put in a gazillion box balls some are waist high so would be upsetting to lose them through my own neglect.

They are tough things, we've had to move three big ones and they've all survived so far.
