Paving to garden office

See pic.

Had this garden office put in. There is a path round the perimeter of the garden behind the washing line.

Was thinking of putting a couple of flags in where the perimeter path meets the garden office so you don't need to walk on the grass to step onto the decking.

Or maybe a few sunken stones going through the lawn.

Any other ideas? I don't really want to be traipsing on wet grass back and forth so times a day.

Ooh that's a nice garden office!

You could add in some planting in front of the office to soften it a bit, and hide the stone from the path in that?

Our the cheapest approach which is to have a pair of garden shoes/crocs to cross the wet grass!

If it was dry, what route would you use?

Put sunken flags in along that route.

I think it’s a good idea to put sunken stones in the area. It’s more cohesive and you will eventually wear down the grass by treading on it.

You probably need a few slabs along the front of it, don't you, like its own little patio.

Yep a few sunken flags might work. Would want it to be informal and blend into the lawn rather than some clearly defined path. There is an indirect path that goes round the perimeter of the lawn behind the washing line but then would need a couple of flags to get to the office. Hmmm.

Also, it has been treated with one coat so far with a 'clear' osmo oil so it still looks like it hasnt been treated (everyone keeps telling me 'you should treat it or it won't last' or 'aren't you going to paint it'). Was thinking of the second coat with a grey oil. Do you think it would look better in grey or just keep the current look and have second coat in the same oil?

If just get small round paving slabs and put them on the grass in line with footsteps. They eventually sink a little.

Oh yes ThatPoster, that is what I had in mind. Do you just buy the stones and stick them in place and after repeated standing on them they sink to being level with grass? Or do you remove turf and soil first?

I have a robotic lawnmower but am sure it's fine as long as they are more or less level with the grass it will just go over them.

At the moment mine are just in the grass…but once it warms up I’m going to do this www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/diy/how-to-lay-stepping-stones/

Sorry not what you asked but can I be nosey and ask where you got your garden office and how you're finding it temperature wise? we're going in cycles where to get ours atm and desperately need to move DP out the dining room before we all lose our minds.

Yes. Last year I picked them up when I mowed the grass, this year I’m mowing over, but they still stick up a little. I need to trim the grass around the edges.

(The closest ones in the photo have been there a couple of years longer)

They are based in Estonia but have UK team doing the delivery or assembly if you opt for installation.

Oh and temperature wise too early to say. It was ok today with a fleece on but I haven't even got electrics installed yet so will get an electric or oil heater. Went for full insulation and twin skin so I hope to use it all year round but won't know really until next winter. Same goes for summer, not sure how hot it will get. It's in a sunny corner.

I am terribly indecisive and pondered for ages but finally committed.

@Specflow77 thank you, that's really helpful! I haven't seen that company before. There's so many on the market now and it seems like prices vary so vastly I'm struggling to work out what the differences (if any) there are. Yours looks lovely, hope it works out well for you Smile
