Can I root globe buddleia cuttings please? (how??)

I have a globe buddleia plant which I brought back in a small pot in a carrier bag on the bus 10 years ago. It is planted in an exposed south facing area next to a busy road in southern Scotland. It has grown to 8ft x 4ft and is very happy.
My crazy neighbours have complained that it 'blocks their view of the road' (an A road with heavy traffic which they 'like to watch go by' & want it cut down. I have refused, but will trim it back.
So, I have lots of 1/2 foot cuttings.
I need to plant behind a rickety fence I can't afford to replace.
It occured to me that a 'hedge' of this buddleia, which is clearly happy in the soil / space, would be perfect.

Can I root the cuttings please ? if so - HOW ???

I would take a cutting from the soft new growth at the tip of the branches just below a node (where new leaves come out) - take a plastic pot and fill with fresh potting compost and insert these cuttings around the sides of the pot - 3 or 4 to a pot. Water and keep damp. Once you see signs of some growth at the too this will indicate roots are forming. Leave a few weeks then take the new mini plants out and plant individually in pots. I wouldnt pot them out until spring next year by which time you should have a good plant.

@bilbodog - THANK YOU very much for your helpful advice ! x

I was worried I've have to faff around with root powder etc which hasn't worked with other plants before.
I do have some Rootgrow michorihizal (sp?) fungi which I used when I moved an old rose bush and it seems good so I might use that too?

Yes, wouldnt do any harm to use it. Good luck!
