37' x 6' fence?

Do you know roughly how much it would cost for supply and fitting? How long would it take to put up? Also, if you have a nice 'country style' fence, can you show me? I'd particularly like to avoid concrete posts and base if possible.

I will get some quotes but I need an idea of what I'd like first and sadly, none of the fence contractors put prices on their sites (for fitting anyway).

Would you have wooden posts, you will need some sort of base so it doesnt rot. Do you like slats, willow, panels or featherboard styles.

Yes, pressure treated wooden posts i think. I like hurdle fences - rot proof - but seem to cost a bomb. I quite like a traditional look with the lattice top too.

We went with ColourFence in cream with a trellis top. It cost more than wood but it has a 25 year guarantee, never needs treating/painting. It has been in 6 years now and it looks as good as the day it was installed. We had a side fence put in at the same time but we’re on a budget so went with wood. That is all rotting in places now, green algae and needs repainting. As soon as o can afford to it is going and a ColourFence putting in, or possible a composite fence from someone like Charles and Ivy.
My experience is it is better to fork out for something that will last a long time and not need painting or cleaning (bar a quick rinse).

Have you seen the Venetian style fencing? I’ve seen a fair bit done very nicely around my area.

Wow @KloppsTeeth that looks really nice. Do you mind telling me how much you paid? I think that would be worth the extra cost as the garden is boggy. How long did it take to install?

I can’t remember the exact price now, it was around £400 and we were being quoted £275 for wooden for the same. We went for the 2.1m fence though.
It was installed in a morning. It is also really strong against winds which was useful to us too. We calculated the cost with a percentage for rising wood and labour prices against the ColourFence quote and decided that we would save money overall with no maintenance, rotting wood, and the cost of treating the fence.

Mine would be around the £1400 - £1500 mark I think. I just wish they did them in more natural colours like oak or very dark brown or a nice sage green.

Yes I agree. I don’t like their brown or green, I don’t think they have them right. I went for the cream, which I was a bit worried about but I find it brings a lot of brightness to the garden, particularly in winter.
There may be more companies that do them, this is one, with different colours

Ah yes, they're nice natural colours, thanks. Lots to think about.

My 32ft x6ft was about £650 for wooden posts, gravel boards and featherboard style.

Tumbleweed101 · 24/03/2022 06:33

Took most of a day to put up.

astorsback · 25/03/2022 00:10

Did you do it yourself? I'm not that handy (or strong).
