Plant ID please

I have this ugly looking inherited shrub/tree in my border. It looks dead most of the time and has lichen or something on it. I have pruned off the crossed branches and I dimly remember it having berries and tiny lacy flowers on it at some point last year when we moved in.

I have no idea what it is, and therefore how to care for it best! It's in a SW facing spot at the front of the house.

INaturalist and Google image search not showing up any clear ideas. I'd like to give it a chance before I remove it as I don't like doing that.

@AlisonDonut no it's not spiky. I'll add another photo when the flowers have opened more.

If it isn't spiky, sorry Meredint, I'm going to say Crab Apple. The leaves are too small for a Cydonia but I can't see the scale so you never know.

If it is any type of Quince, praise be and make quince jelly later in the year. I love quinces so so much. And the house we've moved into, where our neighbours visit twice a year has a huge quince in the garden so I'll be having those as soon as I smell them. Oh happy day.

I think you are right, I've got flowers now and I'm wondering if it's a Adirondack? Thank you everyone for helping me in my ignorance!
