Yes it’s fine - that’s how I always grow mine.

I start them off in the living room.
they need above 15 degrees to germinate.

once they have come up they can go anywhere over 5 degrees, but they do best above 15.

I'm currently using a window sill over a radiator on low...
Tomatoes have germinated.... chilli's much slower

I have only got the one windowsill that is suitable so will get them going then start another batch.

I'd assumed it's still pretty cold in the greenhouse ( well , unheated poly thingy)
I'd love to get some things started in there too though!

look at the seed packet (or the rhs site) for information on germination method and temperature.

problem with starting seeds off on top of radiators, is when you move them the big change in temperature can put them under stress, and unless they are in sunlight they can get leggy which also stresses them.

As far as I'm aware, the best results are in constant temperature (above 10 degrees) and in as much light as possible. A heated mat or propagator in an unheated greenhouse gives me the best results, or just wait until temperatures rise, most annuals will quickly catch up.

I grow mine in a heated propagator in the conservatory. Propagator is the size of a standard seed tray so fits on a wide windowsill

I was reading yesterday about putting a clear plastic bag over the pots, secured with an elastic bag - acts like a greenhouse and can be removed once germinated.

I've never had the radiator on much... couple of hours on low at most so fingers crossed I havnt stressed them! Normally turn the radiator off completely once I put seeds on the window sill but have my daughter in there this year and wanted to take the chill off the room for her...
It's the only sunny windowsill we have ... our house gets so little light, it's frustrating. Am rotating them in a hope they don't get leggy...

An unheated conservatory might be a little cold. You could use a propagator but personally I find it easier to use a reasonably warm room and grow under a cheap grow light as it gives me much more flexibility about where I can put seedlings
