Help me create my front garden

Victorian semi, when we moved in there was a raggedy mess of plants out front and weeds so I got rid of it all, put membrane and pebbles down with the intention of creating a smart front garden.

I’ve since planted two standard olive trees in the middle and am now trying to decide the planting scheme for the rest of it. I want herbs mainly- chamomile, lavender, rosemary etc.

I definitely want to underplant the olive trees with something- but what?

I’m also not sure how to arrange the plants in the gravel?

The front garden area is roughly 12 foot by 8 foot.

Where are you?
What is the soil like?
What direction does it face?
How much upkeep can you do?

I’m in the south east.
Might be north facing but gets a really good amount of sun!
Soil: hmm, not sure but doesn’t seem clay.
I can do a decent amount of upkeep.

You really need to know the direction it faces before you decide on herbs . It needs to be sunny and warm with preferably a light soil for herbs . Are your olives together or apart? Olives need a good space as they grow quite wide . For underplanting you can plant Spring bulbs and then something simple and frothy like Erigeron Karvanskianus on top . Frothy Daisy flowers for 6-8 months a year and bulbs for when they're out of flowers.

I just checked, it’s an east facing garden. I already have some lavender out there in the soil the other side of the door and it’s doing fine.

Yes there is a decent gap between the olives

Here's the Erigeron. If lavender is already doing well you should be ok with herbs . Most herbs go woody after a couple of years so could need replacing then . Google pruning lavender Rosemary etc because you shouldn't prune into old wood and be prepared to replace plants when necessary.
