Replace Virginia creeper on fence?

We have a Virginia creeper
On a north facing fence along our path.
It's lovely when in flower but very invasive -
Spend a fair amount of time
Trimming it back- It likes to Climb the guttering etc
It's beautiful when red but that's about 3 weeks a year Hmm

And in winter it's just stick based and sad Sad

It's based from Four plants planted at base of fence so I am Wondering what we could replace it with?

Do you want some evergreen? Is it in deep shade, or gets a fair bit of indirect sunlight? For more interest year round maybe try a few different plants growing together with different seasons of interest.
If a fair amount of indirect sunlight there are evergreen clematis that may be suitable. Most white flowering, although clematis armandii apple blossom has pink scented flowers at this time of year or a bit later. Trachelospermum jasmanoides has white highly scented flowers in summer, also evergreen. Both will grow to about 4m if unchecked so may be too vigorous still?

Rose new dawn will grow against a North facing wall I think. But if you are walking along the path you may want to avoid roses with thorns?

Oh thanks so much for your replies...
yes maybe anything too thorny not ideal- we have roses behind a low fence on other side of path...
I hadn't thought about mixing it up... that is a good idea.
Sorry my first post was so incoherent
