Greenhouse advice

DH finally got me to agree to him having a fancy greenhouse. I'm definitely going to commender a bit of space in there, other than herbs what would be some good things to grow for a relative gardening novice. My husband is planning his great citrus empire (lemons and limes) but I don't feel confident enough for that yet!

I start my seedings off in mine, grow tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, melons and overwinter plants like Geraniums.
I also have carnations that grow and flower all year round, but I do put them out in the summer.

The advice I read was always get a greenhouse bigger than you think you need.

Most herbs are probably better outside, the obvious exception being basil.

Chillis are easy and decorative

Don’t forget to put a high stool in, working at bench height can be back breaking!

And get on with it- there's usually long waiting lists

I enjoy starting seeds in mine.

Our greenhouse is coming in a month or 2 & I cannot wait! Seeds & cuttings, overwintering & tomatoes are my main targets. Hoping to grow some winter salad in it too but really don't know enough to know what will work!

I use my greenhouse for over wintering tender plants mostly. Cuttings of salvias, starting hollyhocks seeds in the autumn. You’ll find yours really useful.

If you've never grown anything from seed, try cosmos - they don't need to be started for a month or so but they germinate ok and they are a great flower for late summer.
