There are some hornwort in there but the ponds has quickly gone green and slimy. I’ve added some more oxygenating plants (water lettuce) to see if that will help.
Any advice?

Meredint is correct, leaving tap water to stand allows the chlorine do disperse, but chloramine and nitrates will remain, neither of which you want in such a tiny pond. You can buy tap water treatment which will remove chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals but again not nitrates, however if it's not rained for ages and the pond needs water then it's better than nothing!

I would go to an aquarium shop and ask for pond fleas (daphnia). They are sold as live fish food and are native to Britain. They eat the single cell algae that make the water green. They in turn are eaten by everything else carnivorous in the pond.

I’m using rain water not tap water, it’s also been raining plenty here so no need to top up at all.

Pond fleas Shock I wish I hadn’t googled pictures, I’m itching just looking at them! Thank you for the suggestion, I see they are good for eating the algae. So, snails & fleas are what I need.

I love MN so many knowledgeable people on here for every sort of query Smile
Thanks all.
