How much sun does a winter flowering honeysuckle need?

I’ve just purchased a winter flowering ‘Fragrantissima’ honeysuckle and I getting a little confused about conflicting advice about where I should put it- I was wondering if any of you wise MNers had one and where you’d placed it? I’m worried it won’t get enough sun to flower in a north facing border, but will get absolutely cooked in the south facing one. Any advice gratefully received!

Mine’s to the north of the house, so it gets early morning and late evening sun during the 6months of the year that the sun rises/sets northwards of E/W, and a bit of midday sun in June over the top of the house. It flowers. I don’t know if it would flower more in the sun, but I don’t think they’re one of these bushes that are smothered in flowers - they rely on scent to attract pollinators not visual display

Thank you so much @MereDintofPandiculation, that’s good to know that it will survive in my north facing border!

My two 'Winter Beauty' are in the most southerly part of my north facing garden, they are absolutely full of flowers from early December to the end of March. The flowers are small and insignificant but pack a powerful punch in the middle of winter Grin They have lots of red-orange berries afterwards.

It seems likely that the aspect doesn't bother them too much, as mine get tons of sunshine during summer and it doesn't faze them at all.

I do think it's an underrated plant. They are very steady and reliable, don't ask for much and certainly deliver in terms of blooming time. They do benefit from lopping back in April, as once established they go like the clappers. Mine took a couple of years to properly settle but they are so strong now.
