Can anyone recommend a set of heavy duty gauntlets for removing large brambles?

There is a lot to remove, they’re very thick and I need something that will block the thorns.

I use chrome leather welding gauntlets - not cheap though, but they do come in handy when I'm welding!

I use town and country leather (they’re mustard yellow) can also see Amazon has quite a few actually called ‘thornproof’. I first used mine planting a few hundred metres of mixed thorn hedge and they are still going strong (and the hedge is 8 foot !). Some are too stiff for my hands at first but they do soften up pretty well.

Thank you both. I have no current plans to learn how to weld so will give the town and country ones a go Grin

I've used motorcycle gloves in the past.

These look like the suede gauntlets I've had for about 20 years but which I couldn't find recently (and have gone very stiff!) www.safetygloves.co.uk/briers-ultimate-suede-gauntlets.html

So I bought a pair of these astonishingly cheap gloves from Screwfix and have been very pleased with them. Don't cover as much of your forearm though. www.screwfix.com/p/keep-safe-superior-rigger-gloves-black-yellow-large/37195?tc=IT9&ds_kid=92700048793290415&ds_rl=1244069&gclid=CjwKCAjwj8eJBhA5EiwAg3z0mx9ZoZYN9JyZVu3bZqSTRIZiN1nfkBODrSJxDRrOhTYAO9MQ8asXUBoCQIMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I have a pair of RHS endorsed gold leaf gloves. They look identical to the town and country but just looked and they are twice the price. I don't know if they are that much better, but I like them.
Slight derail, but I misread your OP, and I thought you needed to remove some babies Grin

My mum was a midwife- I must ask her what gloves she used Grin maybe she still has them lying around somewhere. Might need a wash though.

Try to remove brambles from the base, cut as low as possible and tug. Fewer thorns.

If you’re strimming and need gloves for carting them away, you’ll find they’re not that difficult, just don’t grab too firmly

MrsRobbieHart · 04/09/2021 09:22

I’m having to use the big snippy thing with the long handles as these are really thick brambles. Also they’re coming through from my neighbours side and entwined in a bush on my side so strimmer is useless. It’s just been left to run wild. I may need professional help but I’ll have a go at it myself first.

I double glove for brambles. I use a thinner cotton pair underneath gauntlets, otherwise I still find I get punctured!

I got some from here for the OH

They’re pricey but absolutely brilliant
