Grave advice

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for my question - please advise where it should go if so!

My dads grave is in need of some tidying but I'm not sure where to start - other graves near his plot have grass strips that have been put down in a rectangle with beautiful flowers growing in the middle - it would be lovely to maintain it like that but I don't live close by

Any advice on what to do to make it look nicer and fairly low maintenance - currently just a mound and some weeds are starting to come through.

Where would you get the grass from? Imagine it's the rolls you can get but have no idea

Thanks in advance!
Thank you

I'd put small hardy shrubs - skimmia or lavender or hebe that will look nice all year. grass needs mowing & watering so that is hard work.

Do the council mow the graveyard?

Meadow mat?

Or you could sow just grass seeds / meadow mix seeds?
Our lawn was nonexistent when we moved in, we just raked the earth & put grass seeds down & soon had a lawn.

Are there any restrictions on what you can plant? It may be an idea to check before buying any shrubs.

Some suggestions on this thread.

We had a star shaped succulent known as Donkey’s tail growing on DD’s it survived hot dry summer and cold wet winters equally well, and it held drops of rain water like little diamonds.

I pulled it out when I found out it was poisonous (didn’t seem right on a child’s grave) but I regret it because I’ve not found anything as suitable and low maintenance since.

Ok so it looks like DD’s wasn’t donkeys tail but something like this…

I’d definitely try a sedum matting or blanket - or make it up yourself. Long lasting, low maintenance and a vast array of colours something like this…www.gardeningexpress.co.uk/sempervivum-houseleeks-pack-of-ten-evergreen-hardy-succulent-plants
Think turfonline do sedum matting too
