It's very aromatic and tastes citrusy and a bit hot. It leaves a tingle on the tongue too.

Can anyone identify this herb?

Can't really see it clearly enough in the photo. Poss. lemon thyme.

Another photo. I have lemon thyme and this is different but maybe there's more than one type of lemon thyme

Can anyone identify this herb?

I put it in my plant I'd app and it says mother of thyme.

Soberfutures · 27/08/2021 19:27

Or summer savory.

MereDintofPandiculation · 28/08/2021 08:58

Yes, that looks very like my winter savory, so summer savory is a good call

MereDintofPandiculation · 28/08/2021 08:59

Definitely not thyme!

“Mother of thyme” is a name for a particular species of thyme, so another example of why you shouldn’t take app ids as gospel. At least I knew I couldn’t see enough to id, and told you so.

Looks a lot like my savory. My lemon thyme has flatter and more open leaves although there are many types of thyme.

Thanks everybody. Mother of Thyme!! At first I thought that must be a typo, I'd never heard of it.

I think it must be summer savory, when I googled, it mentioned a peppery taste and as I said, it left a tingle on my tongue. Soberfutures, do you have any tips for its use?

Thyme has a much thinner, wiry sort of stem as well (leastwise all the ones I've ever seen).
