Recieved my dad's ashes today and would like to spread part of them under a tree or bush that can be grown in the garden.

I have a large North facing garden so it's quite damp. This is not my forever home so perhaps something in a container that can be transported? Dad enjoyed a drink so it would be nice to grow some sort of soft fruit to make wine from.

Im really sorry you lost your dad. I’m bumping in the hope someone more knowledgeable comes along, as I am intending to do the same with my parents ashes and was thinking of roses in containers, as we also may move house and I wouldn’t want to leave them behind. I don’t know if roses like ashes, though, or fruit trees.

Sorry about your Dad. Would an Acer tree in a pot be suitable? With a plaque attached to it somehow? I find acres very gentle & graceful, they like the shade. I've planted one in honour of a friend who passed away a few months ago.

Thank you for the replies. Roses are a good idea as he had those in his garden. I love Acer trees and have one in my front garden but it's not really his style.

How about this Myrtle tree. There is a lot of info about how the leaves are used in drinks

Plants won't like his ashes in their soil, I'm afraid. Far too much salt, and very alkaline.
