Greenhouse bases

Have just ordered my first greenhouse. Can anyone offer any advice on bases please?

This model could go down on bare earth, but don't think we'll do that - so slabs, solid concrete, gravel with central slab path?

(Am very excited!)

We used slabs around the edge to support the green house and ensure it was level and slabs down the middle as a path.

If you are assembling it yourself... Aluminium green houses can flex a lot and if they are not level it can be difficult to fit the glass.

We left the rest as just soil, don't know why, probably easier and somewhere for the worms to live.

Oh I did put that fabric weed suppressant down, but you can cut holes in that and plant in the ground if you want.

A proper concrete base is best, less likelihood of the frame shifting. Slabs OK, but not bare earth, it will remain damp, and more likely to attract weeds and insects.

Ours is a mixture of a concrete slab from previous owners greenhouse and concrete paving slabs. 5 years on and still as good as new.

Ours is concrete slab from previous owners' garage. Still good after 30 years.

Concrete slab every time
