What can I plant in my garden that will deter cats

My garden is full of cat poo. I planted a rose hoping the thorns would deter them. But no. I've tried putting lemon juice and orange peel down too. What else can I use?

We had a curry plant and it took me weeks to realise why I kept getting a whiff of curry in the house. It was my cat, she was spending her afternoons sleeping on it. Didn't poo near it so you might be on to something there.

Update, Purchased two "curry plants,". They bloody stink! Hope they do the job

Don't plant cat nip. I've got some for my cat and the neighbourhood cats come around and rub themselves against it whilst slyly watching my cat who is indoors and going mental.

I have a massive lavender bush in my garden and my cat is still living here and the curry plant doesn't make him run off either.

The only thing I would recommend is a cat scarer which is attached to a hosepipe and goes off when it detects movement. I used to use it before I got my cat because the local moggies were shitting in my vegetable beds when they were empty. My cat now shits in the empty beds but obviously I can't use the soaker on him.

Dogwood

A dog. Another cat, preferrably a mean one.

If neither of these appeal then the groundcover advice is spot on. My cats view any area of nicely raked or dug soil as me making them a brand new toilet.

Lots of groundcover, preferrably spiky, if not put some sticks in the ground so they can't get their bums down.

Well.....the disgusting smelly plants have obviously not worked FFS. Off to find out what spiky stuff I can put down.

Go foraging for blackberry runners nice a prickly.cut and lay them down on your borders. My cats don’t like them. They also avoid the stinging nettles left for the caterpillars.

Used coffee grounds.

Don't use wood chippings

Flippyflops2021 · 12/08/2021 08:09

As a last resort has anyone tried the Sonar cat repellent things?
I also want to try and minimise the neighbours cats time in my garden. I used to love watching the birds. Now they’ve all gone :(

Jeyes fluid around where they poo. My dad swore by it, they hate the small.
