Bedding plants

I bought some bedding plants in Tesco today... 6 plants for £3. I bought Dianthus and Fuschia but there are no flowers on them. Now I've planted them in suddenly paranoid that they won't bloom as it's too late in the year. I'm a total novice gardener so any advice would be appreciated.. if there's anything I can do to ensure they bloom or just learn for next year?

Miracle grow?

Well most dianthus are perennials so even if they don't flower this year they will do next. However, there is time for both the dianthus and the fuchsias to bloom yet. If you're planting in a border add plenty of compost and yes, Miracle Grow or general purpose fertiliser will help growth.

Fuchsias are often grown as annuals and they are often not frost hardy. They are easy to take cuttings from though so worth taking a few to grown indoors or in a green house over winter.

Fuchsias usually carry on flowering well into autumn imo.
I find that some which are aren't sold as frost hardy may survive the winter - they look like dead twigs but then in quite late spring start showing green. So never be hasty to take one out.
