Apparently hostas are edible

I've just discovered that you can eat hostas! I was watching a YouTube video from 'Lovin on the Land' and noted that they are growing them for this purpose. Has anyone tried this?

I can recommend their vlog as a counterpoint to the usual allotment gardening channels. The couple are based in Pender Island off British Columbia in what appears to be an idyllic situation, and are only eating what they grow. I've only just found them so not been following along but I'm impressed by their commitment and creativity.

I'd have to get there before the slugs. No chance.

They definitely are edible to slugs.

All I could think about in response to OP was slugs, too!!

Daisies, Nasturtiums & dandelions are also edible -- and not nearly so popular with slugs. Cabbage white caterpillars quite like Nasturtiums, mind.

Unexpected eatables in Australia: the flower of Swiss cheese plant, the stems of rock lilies (dendrobium speciosum), aptenia cordifolia.

All this in addition to nasturtiums, chickweed, New Zealand spinach (planted but seeds prolifically)

And then you get to the supporters of the national emblems, kangaroo and emu. All chewy. :o I eat kangaroo quite a lot but don't think I could eat emu, unless it was roadkill.
