Recycling a compost bin?!

Having a massive clearout in the garden and have a compost bin which we rarely use and are planning to empty out and get rid of. In the spirit of recycle and reuse, I'm wondering if this is something which gardeners/allotments owners are likely to find useful. DP thinks we should stick up a note at the local allotments offering the compost bin. I'm not on Facebook and really don't want to faff about with Gumtree/Freecycle or similar.

What do you think, gardening folk?

We also have a stack of plastic plant pots. But I'm guessing no-one would want those?

Definitely offer it to the local allotment groups, someone will snap it up and may even take the plastic pots.

Don't you have a child or a friend on Facebook? It's how I get rid of all my crap useful preloved bits and pieces.

If you have a front garden, stick it out there with a free to good home note as well as a note at the local allotments. I got rid of all my plant pots recently and it's surprising how much you need them when they are gone. Smile

If schools were open I would offer it to a local school (and the pots) but as they aren’t I would do as a op suggested and put it at the front with a note ( then lurk behind the curtain and see who takes it, waves to neighbour who took my old bookshelves)

Brilliant. Thanks, everyone. The school idea is a good shout. I know the teacher in charge of DC school garden so I shall give her first refusal. Otherwise allotment/front garden. I did have the pots out there earlier today but they nearly floated off down the road in the torrential rain!
