Professional pruning fruit trees

I am looking for recommendations on how to find a decent person to prune my fruit trees.

I have contacted a tree surgeon and all they seem to talk about is taking trees out and making the crown a nice shape. I am interested in them for fruit production rather than as ornamental trees. The trees are mature and some have been very neglected.

I can’t do it myself as they are too big for me and my tools to reach.

Would I be best to get a gardner or try and find a specialist fruit tree person?

Not all tree surgeons are created equal. Have you tried looking for approved contractors from the Arb association? www.trees.org.uk/ARB-Approved-Contractor-Directory

I spotted the membership on the website of some tree surgeons I used. They had been recommended by a neighbour and were brilliant. I just needed them to remove a couple of small trees but my neighbour used them because they understood how to legally manage trees that have TPOs and sorted all of the paperwork as part of the job. Their website specifically lists fruit tree and orchard management so I assume if you find a local tree surgeon who can help they'll list it on their website too.
