What can I do with this hideous garden…

Makes me quite depressed. Tree is coming down next week so that’s a start. Have started repainting fence too (dark oak colour). I could spend maybe up to £5k but fear that won’t get much in terms of landscaping! Anyone got any suggestions? The slope is quite steep…

Level out the slope with some decking. Get rid of that overgrown bush/ tree in corner and maybe plant clematis or some other trailing plant to cover up wall of shed. Potted flowering plants and garden furniture.

What direction does it face? It’s good to buy plants according to how much sun you do or don’t get. I’d cover the fences with jasmine…plant some right now!

Who said retractable clothesline? Best suggestion so far :)

A straight path in a rectangular garden just makes it look even more rectangular. If you make the path more sinuous (start top right, curve round the back of the shed and end up bottom left) then it softens things and will also take out some of the steepness. I presume you want to keep a path - not steps - because of ease of access.

I love the slide idea!
