Turf hasn't taken

We had a new lawn laid mid may. Howe ever it hasn't taken at all because there's been so much rain and there's patches of soil everywhere.

The guy who did it said if it hadn't got better by September he'd come and relay it. Is there any chance at all it'll get better!?

@Workinghardeveryday sorry to jump on you & dh here but we're lifting our rubbish lawn soon to rotavate & level. Please could I ask is turf or seed better in September? Or is there anywhere I could find advice on making a better lawn with less moss & a better soil base?

I text him, he said:
Turf is better in September seed will take ages, moss is caused by poorly airated soil and acidic, but once it’s in it’s hard to get rid of, rotavate well and level soil and returf, could spray with iron regularly if the area is prone to moss, hope that helps
