Hi, the attached photo is a flower from my garden, I thought it was a Camellia but the images I found online are different. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks in advance. I’m not a gardener, the bush has been there for years, I just love bringing the flowers inside when they bloom, so pretty.

It looks like a rose, possibly thornless Zephirine Drouhin.

Update, it is a type of Camellia, I kept googling until I found it.

Are you 'down under', as your NN suggests? In which case, if it's early spring then camellia does seem right. For most of us in the U.K. in July it couldn't be, and would have to have been a rose that looked a lot like a camellia.Grin

Definitely camellia. Perfect one, mine keep getting exposed to frost what not and going brown.

It's so perfect it almost doesn't look real (in a good way Grin)

Agreed.

We seem to have a bit of a dragon convention here.

Still camellia. Looks like it needs a more acid soil or a bit of chelates iron. But I guess the Australian climate is more foreign to it than the English. They’re from Himalayas through to Japan, so more ready access to moisture.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 14/07/2021 10:33

I was marvelling at its perfection rather than doubting its veracity - you are very lucky! I have tried and failed with camellia.

Downunderduchess · 14/07/2021 11:03

Can’t take any credit, I do absolutely nothing to it. It’s been in the garden forever. I just cut the flowers off when it blooms & bring them inside.

I took this picture of a perfect flower on my big camellia, it really doesn't look real!

How beautiful!

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 20:02

They really are stunning, and somehow not what you generally expect spring flowers to be like. Our neighbours have one - but they can barely see it, it's by our driveway. I don't cut any of the flowers but sometimes they fall off still looking good, they can be floated in a bowl of water.
