Thinking ahead for winter - fleece bags?

Hi all.
I have quite a few 'exotic' plants in my scheme which are recommended to be protected over winter.
I've seen some horticultural fleece 'bags' which go over the plants and tie at the bottom with a drawstring.
Can you just pop these on and then leave them the whole winter? Apparently they allow sunlight and rain through but just protect from frost /snow. Or do I have to go out every day and take them off?

Plants I will be protecting are my cordylines, ferns, fatsias, etc. (Ones which really suffered last winter in Scotland under the snow).

What else should I be protecting? My planting scheme is mostly evergreens. I also have two palm trees (trachycarpus fortunaei and trachycarpus wagnerius in large pots).

Thanks for any advice. Does anyone else use fleece? Has it been successful?

I’ve used the fleece bags in the past and left them in place all winter. I didn’t stuff them with straw as I banked on it being just warm enough that the fleece alone would do the job. Seemed to work!
