Where do you buy your plant pots?

That’s it in a nutshell.

I’m looking for some outdoor plant pots that are decorative but don’t cost the Earth.
So more decorative than your average terracotta pot but not costing ~£80-90 like I’ve seen at our garden centre.

Where would you get them?

I’ve got some great ones from Amazon, and also some great ones from the garden centre. What kind of thing are you looking for?

KeepingTrack · 13/06/2021 14:25

On the big size of thing, glazed maybe
I’d like them to be decorative enough that, in winter, with much less in them, they still give a nice touch to the garden.

I’ll have a look at b**y Amazon too

I've got some nice ones from local garden centres. They're big, about £40. I don't mind paying more for really nice ceramic pots though. I look on them as an investment, they're beautiful and useful and last for a long time.

Decent pots are expensive. Maybe keep an eye out on marketplace for interesting alternatives. Also go to plant fairs when there is often someone selling second hand gardening stuff.

KeepingTrack · 13/06/2021 15:39

@Candleabra, I agree, good quality pots are an investment.

@Bluntness100, as much as I dislike Amazon, there was some very nice pots there!

I've had them from wilkos and Morrison's in the past

Elouera · 13/06/2021 15:47

I got some pretty blue and green ones from aldi earlier this year. They looked like a glazed pot, but were very light and made from plastic. I've also got pots from lidl, morrisons, home bargains and car boots. Sometimes nextdoor or freecycle.

Not exactly what you want, but these pots were from lidl. 3 levels in a pack for £11.99, so this is 2 pack (minus the very top one I haven't put on yet). Yes, they need a good clean too, but you get the idea.

Wilko at the end of summer always sell them off cheap.. likewise the garden centre I got some reduced from £50 to £12.50.. you just have to wait a bit as I always want them at this time of year.. 😄

Bluntness100 · 13/06/2021 16:25

These are really good value, as you can use the inners separately, so get two pots for the price of one. Very nice in real life.

Tk Maxx or Home Sense always have really nice pots!

Hebeee · 13/06/2021 16:34

Local garden centre or nursery....but ours are mostly very large and cost up to a couple of hundred £££. We do have some Errington Reay pots that were cheaper - around £60 for the largest size and we found some of the same brand second hand on eBay (huge ones for £80 a pair).

Never shop on Amazon personally as I much prefer eBay, lol 🤣

I bought some from Wilko (terracotta) and painted them with Cuprinol Garden Shades - just bought 3 different colours in tester pots for £3 each.

SBAM · 25/06/2021 11:19

I’ve had some nice blue and green glazed pots from Homebase that weren’t too expensive, and they’re doing 25% off if you spend £40

KeepingTrack · 25/06/2021 12:43

Thanks @SBAM.
Ill have a look!
