But I’ve had such a stupid random scattergun approach over the years I can’t be sure. V grateful for any help. The bigger one is def on a runner as it pops up over the whole left side. Thanks

That second one looks like mint. Does it smell? It spreads like mad.

mineofuselessinformation · 12/06/2021 10:20

First one is chickweed.

Kentuki · 12/06/2021 10:22

It’s not mint, it has a sort of shiny feel

The first one looks like spurge.

MrsFin · 12/06/2021 10:27

Have you tried the LeafSnap app?

Kentuki · 12/06/2021 10:33

I have tried the plant snap but it’s always totally wrong

First one is petty spurge, Euphorbia peplus. Second looks like soapwort, Saponaria officionalis. Masses of pink flowers a bit later in the season when other things are dying off. The pattern of the leaf veins rules out mint.

Second might be willowherb, we get it everywhere but is very easy to weed or pull.

MustardRose · 13/06/2021 10:34

Get rid of the first one, it is spurge (part of the euphorbia family) and spreads everywhere. Wear gloves when you are pulling it up as the sticky white sap is toxic and can cause skin irritation.

This is right. I have both in my garden. Soapwort has nice flowers.

Second might be willowherb Willowherbs have alternate leaves, not opposite leaves, and the veins head straight out from the central vein to the leaf edge, rather than running along almost parallel. So not willowherb.
