From a border on the other side of the house but not up against the house, there is a patio in between

A leaf from each for comparison

I would say no to all three of your first pics

Gwraigynpoeni · 11/06/2021 17:21

I really don’t think they are

purplesequins · 11/06/2021 17:22

not knotweed.
the very first could be a sunflower

Borington · 11/06/2021 17:35

I don’t think it’s knotweed either.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 11/06/2021 17:36

Not knotweed - ground elder maybe?

lostandfoundit · 11/06/2021 23:46

Looks like what has suddenly appeared in my garden out of no where - I believe it could be enchanters nightshade. It spreads!

Gingernaut · 11/06/2021 23:47

No.

BruceAndNosh · 11/06/2021 23:50

Knotweed has a red tinge to the stems

Sportsnight · 11/06/2021 23:51

And shield shaped leaves.

Emmelina · 11/06/2021 23:58

My app says this. A type of willow herb apparently! And not related to deadly nightshade you’ll be pleased to hear!

WeAreTheHeroes · 12/06/2021 06:55

None of them are knotweed.

Beetlebrooker · 12/06/2021 07:01

No, I lived in a rented house which had a knotweed infestation - that isn't knotweed. Hideous stuff, the leaves are less textured and the stems are browny red.

Beekeeper1 · 12/06/2021 07:10

Enchanter's Nightshade (Circaea luteiana), a wildflower usually found in damp, shady woodland or hedge bottoms. A member of the evening primrose family, harmless, but spreads like wildfire, if conditions are right! Rather pretty when it flowers

cataclysmiclife · 12/06/2021 07:45

That looks like bindweed

AlwaysLatte · 12/06/2021 07:54

I think Beekeeper is right, well done. We also have this in our woodland area.

Anotherinternetmum · 12/06/2021 08:08

I don’t believe so, this looks like nightshade

Bryonyshcmyony · 12/06/2021 08:10

Bindweed isn't it?

Bryonyshcmyony · 12/06/2021 08:11

First pic anyway

Bryonyshcmyony · 12/06/2021 08:13

Sorry first one deffo enchanter nightshade according to my plant identifier app (picture this - very good)

whataballbag · 12/06/2021 08:21

Definitely not, knotweed has the redder stem

MereDintofPandiculation · 12/06/2021 09:37

Yes, beekeeper is right. All those pictures are of Enchanters nightshade. It won’t get much taller, and will produce a spike of tiny white flowers which are worth a close look. Then it’ll die down for the winter and come up again next year.

It does spread, so you may want to keep an eye on it. But it’s a nuisance in flower beds,no more than that

Definitely not ground elder which hascompound leaves divided into leaflets, not bindweed which has different shaped leaves placed alternately on the stem not opposite like these are. Not knotweed which is a much sturdier plant even at that height, and again, different shaped leaves

lexloofah · 12/06/2021 10:44

Ah that is a relief on the knotweed and deadly fronts thank you all, I just panicked when I saw it sprouting from the side of the house

It has filled a damp, shady border which sounds like ideal conditions for it. I will try to contain it there and just sacrifice the hydrangea it has swallowed up as no chance of digging it all out, might even be coming from next door under the fence although wouldn't be surprised if previous owners planted it as they def had a thing about creeping, invasive plants that choke everything else
