Have possibly made a bit of a faux pas — just bought two small pots of these for a couple of euros each not realising they were climbers. Now wondering how big / rampant they might get, and where would be best to plant them — are they invasive, how much support would they need?

I think they're evergreen which is good as I have an overlooked (in the winter — full of deciduous plants) corner I need something in, but it doesn't get much sun

Any ideas/ suggestions — could I just leave them in tubs for the summer for example?

Pictures would help!

First is plant

Second is what is a very bare corner out of season - we're worried it will become a building site shortly and it overlooks our dining room so hope to get something in on our side before they clear the plots of the mature trees they have.

I think they like full sun, and can get quite large.

That's my concern, perhaps will pot up and see how they do over the summer and —procrastinate as usual —decide later in the season

I have two of these and they are vigorous, but are very easy to train and to keep under control with pruning. They're brilliant for privacy, very pretty and the bees just adore them. They do need sturdy support though. Mine are two metres up (and 2.5m along) some very solid trellis.
