Wind damage

A winter honey suckle shrub I inherited with house h suffered wind damage. It was badly cut back, I trimmed a bit of the top after it has finished flowering and now has a good few long shoots from the base. But now e o the awful pruning a whole woody branch has broken, so I need to cut it off. Is it likely to survive? It will be quite a severe cut, right down to ankle height. Also how would I take cuttings? I've never done that before.

Honeysuckle does root itself if branches bend down to touch the ground, and I've had success both with cuttings and severely pruning the main plant. It should be fine, but you might not get many flowers for a year or two.

I bet you couldn't get rid of it if you tried! It'll be back I bet.
