Growing bamboo in pots - advice needed

I want to grow some bamboo in pots to go along a fence - that area is paved so they can't be planted, and I need something that is going to give fairly quick tallish/widish cover - we are in a new build and I want something along that side to give a bit more privacy / stop sound bouncing around so much etc.

I've done quite a lot of research and settled on fargesia rufa(I think), so clumping rather than running, and won't grow much taller than 6-7ft, I don't want to block out the neighbours light with really tall ones (they get a lot of their sun from our side and gardens are NE facing I think).

The first few articles I read said they do really well in pots, but then I found a forum where a lot of people were saying they didn't, so now I'm a bit stuck. Anyone knowledgeable able to offer any advice please?

I've a clumping variety in a container, which is a large cattle trough. It's been absolutely fine, but does need a lot of water from April to October. I use an all purpose food on it.

I have 3 in pots for the same reason. I have had them about 10 years and they moved house with me. They do get pot bound, so plant them in very large plastic pots, with straight sides. Getting them out of curved sized pots is very difficult. Lots of water and feed during the spring/ summer months. In winter they can seem to sulk and the leaves can turn yellowish, but they soon pick up again.
They are fine and are about 6/7 ft tall. As they move with the wind they make a lovely rustle and certainly don’t block out the light

'clumping not running'
Hahahaha yeah right.
If you are lucky they will not run, but they probably will. If they are in pots check the bases regularly for roots. The roots can go through concrete, and through tarmac like butter. On a wet warm sunny summer day they can grow nearly a foot.

They do look lovely, but go in expecting them to run and prepared with secateurs!

Thanks all. Noted about the curved pots!! I was thinking of getting some sturdy wooden planters made, roughly 60 x 45 base size so there is room for them to grow sideways, if that makes sense? Would that work do you think?

Rectangular planters sound ideal. I might try that myself. Thanks.

Nope. Sorry!
Line the planters with special bamboo proof liner. Or corrugated iron. Otherwise the roots will escape.
They will look lovely but do keep an eye on the pots
