What’s happened to spring?!

I got a photo reminder on my phone of my garden this time last year and my garden was full of flowers and plants and blossom and bluebells. The clematis was in flower, peonies were in bloom, leaves on the trees.
This year, the exact same day, nothing! My trees have no leaves and not one of the above is past very early growth...
What is happening?! Has literally every plant/ tree died?! 😳

I’m in East Anglia too. It doesn’t rain here. I think it technically has less rain that some deserts. I don’t think it’s rained here since March really. I also remember that it didn’t rain in the first lockdown.

I honestly didn’t know that about EA! I live in a part of the country where it rains constantly! It has been so strange to have such a dry winter/spring.

The strange thing is that since I posted a few days ago, things are starting to grow noticeably! I have blossom buds on the apple tree and the azaleas, peonies are getting greener and bigger! Very quickly! We had a shower yesterday so hopefully everything is waking up!

Clematis is getting greener too! Still no leaves on my maple tree but the leaves are there if I look closely... tightly packed in buds!

Slowly slowly it’s all happening

I planted out some bits today, taking a chance

The weather has been extremely cold followed by a dry spell. My cherry blossom normally flowers in Feb but this year it didn’t flower till April. Tulips have only flowered this past couple of weeks which is very late. I’d say we are at least six weeks behind normal. Which is not good news because it means all the flowers and veg will be delayed because they got a late start.

I’m obsessed at the moment! The wallflowers are getting taller by the day!

I planted some beans and squashes and tomatoes out last week - last frost was forecast for 28th.

They all died last night Sad
