Bulbs worth keeping?

I have found, hidden in the back of my garage, a net of daffodil bulbs. Probably 10 years old. I have heavy clay soil, which is difficult to turn. Are these bulbs worth keeping, and worth the effort they will be putting them in??

What have you got to lose?
If the clay is too difficult then you could do a container instead. I have seen some lovely Spring displays of pots of daffodils, tulips, hyacinth, grape hyacinth, etc.

On the other hand, daffs are very cheap. You could always bin these (or plant in a nearby verge?) and get some replacement ones when they hit the shops (at the proper planting time) in the Autumn.

They will probably be completely dried out and stone dead after that long.

Give the bulbs a squeeze, if you find your fingers and thumb going through the bulb then compost them, if there is firm resistance then why not give them a go, nothing to lose.

I suspect they’re too shrivelled by now, but nothing ventured, nothing gained so I’d be inclined to try them in containers and plant them out in the garden if they sprout.
