Hi there,

Need help, we have this bloody fox that comes to garden every night and digs up the soil in pots, last night it dug up my beautiful Daphne plant and I have no hope for it’s survival.

Someone suggested to get DH to pee in the garden as it will deter him but my question is, I have a cat, well more of 6 months kitten that goes in the garden. Will it stress my kitty out?

I think this is the time of year foxes look for a den. Sorry about your plants. But I find that if I keep filling in the holes, foxes generally move on.

I thought male urine was supposed to repel badgers. Never heard of a fox deterrent. The cats and foxes get on OK round here.

We had wild boars in our garden ( not uk) was told urine or hair clippings, asked the hairdresser for the excess each time we went to hairdressers.

Human poo and wee will repel them. The cat shouldn't be that bothered as they will know what you both smell like as you are in the pack. Small bowls of paraffin or diesel will do it too if the area you are trying to repel them from is small enough to go to this effort.

Your kitten is going to be way more stressed by fox urine than by human.

No idea if it would work as a repellant, but I'd be trying everything and hopefully no something worked. Refilling anything that's been dug is a priority.

If you live near a zoo or other animal park, see if you can buy lion or other big cat poo (no idea if this wouid work, but it's an approach that makes me smile)

When we got our new puppy, we had a problem with fox poo in the garden. DH did use his own wee (he weed into a bottle and then spread it around garden Shock and the foxes stopped doing it. From this we concluded that male urine does work. It was pretty grim though!

Thank you all!

I have been filling the holes back up, now hopefully today / tomorrow we shall try the wee bit(DH is not co-operating!)

I think the fox has been attacking my garden as I gave bonemeal to my plants (some of them).

It’s a nightmare as he poops as well every freaking night!

I have this problem too. I put brown plastic mesh in my raised beds and pots and then plant through it or cut a hole in it to plant. Foxes like loose soil and the mesh stops them being able to successfully dig so they move on.

Thanks mighty, issue is I have lots of pots. Thinking of getting the thing that shoots water / motion sensor - if wee doesn’t work.

I think the bonemeal will have attracted Foxy, alas.
And it's leaving shites as it is claiming your garden as its territory- it is a signal to other foxes.

Anecdotally, I've also found that male wee works!
