Will asiatic lillies come back?

I got a lovely asiatic lilly plant for mother's day that is now beyond its best and I'm wondering if I cut the stems back to pot level will they grow again next year? Or shall I just compost it?

Take the old flower heads off and leave the green stalk with leaves to die down. The bulb has been forced to flower for Mother’s Day, they would not usually flower until the summer. It will grow again maybe just leaves for this year and flowers next year.

Thanks @BeeBumble2, can I leave the pot outside in a sheltered place or does it have to stay inside?

Leave the pot outside in a sheltered place. It will be fine.

If your pot is outside I hope your garden is cat proofed so cats can’t get in OP because lilies are absolutely deadly to cats.

They cause organ failure and just a cat walking past the plant, knocking some pollen on itself and licking it off is enough to make them severely ill and maybe even kill them.

@BigWolfLittleWolf I always have cut lillies in the house in a vase and we have a cat, I wasn't aware they were dangerous Blush. Into the compost heap it will go, there are lots of cats passing through my garden. Thanks for that.

There are quite a few houseplants and outdoor plants that are poisonous to cats. Some are more dangerous than others. Cats protection have a good list on their website. I still have some because the cats haven't shown any interest but I had to get rid of lily of the valley because one wanted to sleep on it. www.cats.org.uk/help-and-advice/home-and-environment/dangerous-plants

This is true, there are lots of toxic plants but many only cause mild symptoms like a tummy ache or drooling.
As far as I know, the most severely poisonous plants for cats are Lilies, Oleander and Autumn Crocus.
Those specific three are usually fatal if even a small amount of the plant, pollen included use ingested

I bought some a few years ago from the bargain section in b&q, I think they were left over from mother’s day, I planted them into 2 big pots in the garden and left them, they have come up every year since and this year I have split the bulbs and planted them into big planters with some other bulbs. I leave them out all year and they just keep coming back bigger and better each year.
