Watching birds (and other wildlife) in the garden

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I couldn't see a wildlife thread anywhere.

I've been really enjoying watching birds in our garden over the past year. I've put up several feeders, a bird box, built a little wildlife pond etc.

For the past few days I've been watching a pair of blue tits going in and out of the nest box. At the moment they seem to be going in then throwing stuff out, rather than building a nest.

Anyone else interested in what's going on in their garden?

We have a robin (North American type) which is singing non stop every morning and evening. I woke up at 4 am this morning and he was already at it. He is becoming famous in our neighbourhood.

The hummingbirds we feed on our balcony are getting used to us being out there with our dinner on warm days. But they sometimes give us quite a loud telling off!

The neighbourhood crows have been watching the big public waste bin. I put something in it the other day, and as I walked away a crow swooped down and checked it wasn't something yummy.

Sometimes they make a huge mess by pulling things out of the bin, usually when someone has thrown food containers and packaging like McDonalds waste in the bin.

The crows have been cawing very loudly at times, maybe guarding nests,

thirst They weren't just baby blue tits were they? The ones we've had look a bit like that.

I thought of you all as found this YouTube channel about a blue tit nest box - there's some lovely compilation videos, this is a great one of the nest being built

The elephant hawk moth caterpillar that I rescued from a cat last autumn and which has been pupating in a box of dead leaves all winter has finally metamorphosed into a huge green and pink most beautiful moth. I really recommend this video of a newly emerged hawk moth: m.youtube.com/watch?v=l11-H2-cg00

If this doesn’t work, go into YouTube and search for elephant hawkmoth gecko, and pick the one titled “he’s hatched”
