Fritella

QuercusRose · 01/04/2021 18:30

Not sure on the second photo - maybe gardenia?

BoxitUp · 01/04/2021 18:31

The second pic is a camellia

Pearlywunzel · 01/04/2021 18:31

I think it's a hemerocallis (day lily).

FindingMeno · 01/04/2021 18:31

Crown imperial and camellia.

QuercusRose · 01/04/2021 18:32

Or Camellia

VictoriaBun · 01/04/2021 18:33

Crown imperial( known as Pineapple Lily ) and camellia

UCOinaUCG · 01/04/2021 18:37

Thank you. My DD is sending me random flower pictures and asking me to identify them!

Crown Imperial Fritillaries smell of foxes, only have them if you have a fairly large garden. It can be quite powerful.

Camellias are lovely.

notanothersaveusername · 01/04/2021 18:48

Frittilaria and camelia.

UCOinaUCG · 01/04/2021 18:48

You are all brilliant and now my DD thinks I am very clever!

I did not know that about Crown Imperial!

I shall cease considering it at once!

viques · 01/04/2021 19:04

Crown imperial are in the fritallaria group so are probably prone to lily beetle attach ( little red bastards) I would not (could not) grow it for that reason.

WildCherryBlossom · 02/04/2021 09:18

Top one Fritillaria Imperialis, second one a camellia but not sure which exact one.

WildCherryBlossom · 02/04/2021 09:21

The Fritillaria will grow in pretty shady spots so it's useful for a burst of spring colour under a tree.

Camellia likes acid soil so if yours is not then easiest to grow in a pot and feed ericaceous plant food.

MereDintofPandiculation · 02/04/2021 10:18

I think it's a hemerocallis (day lily). A day lily does have orange flowers, but they are pointing upwards, not hanging down.
