Birch tree dripping

The birch tree in our garden (silver or downy I think) is dripping a thick, transparent liquid from its branches (not the main trunk) quite consistently. I’ve seen various theories online, from a bacterial disease to this just being normal sap that will stop on its own. Primarily we’re concerned that it might stain the decking. Any ideas?

Birch trees can drip sap in spring, usually after pruning. I don’t think it should be a problem, but no idea whether it will stain your decking.
I have a large Himalayan birch, which was crowned a few years ago, and poured sap from the cut branches for several weeks, worrying me that it wouldn’t recover, but is fine, and growing even more strongly!
