Wild garlic

Morning all. Wild garlic has just begun to pop up in my back garden. I'm a big fan of it but I've read it can get a bit out of control. I'm a novice gardener too. If I pull it up while there's only a few (15 ish) do I have a hope of getting rid? TIA!

It does spread easily but its beautiful early on, then I just remove the top growth when I plant other things.
You need to be quite thorough to remove it completely I would think, but you would be able to contain it somewhat.

I was thinking of planting some in my garden. Am I mad?

We've got it but it doesn't spread rampantly. Possibly as it's in a shady and windy spot. Level75 it would be worth looking at different types to see whether some are easier to manage, especially if you have better growing conditions.

It also REALLY stinks (obvious point I know) but it had run rampant in our garden when we bought it so had to remove all that was less than a metre or two away from any windows as every time we opened them it wafted in which wasn’t particularly pleasant.

No. I planted some in a garden, under a cherry tree surrounded by lawn. The WG came up in spring, enough to pick bunches of leaves, and died down as the tree came into leaf. Mowing the lawn prevented it spreading.

I love the smell of it!
I've planted in in my garden and it's spread a bit but its not out of control by any means, several years later.

If getting rid you just need to pull up the bulbs - it's not ever so deep rooting so no need to dig a foot down etc. I've planted some near our wildlife pond to coverage and to use in pesto x

Ugh - ignore the 'x' - no idea where that came from Hmm

It likes shade and it spreads in bare spaces. It shouldn’t be a problem in a thickly planted garden. It’s just paths you might have to worry about, but it doesn’t particularly like being walked on.

It dies down by June.

We have some and it doesn't seem to have spread much. I was considering relocating some to elsewhere in the garden, where it can take over if it likes! Hopefully it will survive the process.
