Wise gardeners.
I have a small mostly patio garden with a couple of flower beds which are mainly herbs. I want to grow some climbers to cover a wall and ugly bits of the house.
Plants that seem to do well locally are honeysuckle, jasmine and Passion flowers.
Plants needed:
-
to grow up and mostly cover a west facing wall with trellis (2 metres high). Ideally something scented, not spiky as behind a seating area, and that is not going to persistently grow more than 3 metres high as that would cause a problem with gutters and while I don’t mind pruning I don’t want to be pruning all the time. Spot previously occupied by ivy which went crazy and had to be destroyed. Was thinking maybe a honeysuckle?
-
to grow up and surround metal window frames (they don’t open). There is nothing to attach trellis or anything to. South facing, but partly shaded by trees. Was wondering about Virginia creeper as it can sucker itself up?
- North facing wall, already has two climbers on it, one of which is a rose. Need one other that grows quite bushy. jasmine maybe?
Thoughts, including about suited varieties very welcome.
I prefer blues and white and pinks to yellows and oranges.
Many thanks!
