How long did it take you to move a curb side drop off of soil?

Hello-has anyone ever had to shift a huge bag of top soil after a curb side drop off? I need about 3/4 bags and most companies are curb side only (and I have no drive anyway!). I’m concerned as out pavement is narrow, on a school route and in London so v busy. I’m wondering how long it might take me to clear it!me and a wheelbarrow.
I know one company who may crane it over the front garden but there’s an overhead power cable that will probably mean they can’t. The other option I guess would be to take delivery of smaller bags but I think it may be very expensive.

We got 5500kg of sand/crush run and paving flags delivered just last week for our garden. Took three fit men, a teenage girl and three wheel Barrows and about 4 hours. They went really quickly as it was dropped off at 4 and was a good 340ft from it back door on a a public pathway. So they had to get it all moved very quickly before it went pitch black.

Top tips. Two wheel Barrows is much quicker if there is more than 2 people. Some people are better at shovelling and some people are better at wheel barrowing. WE had one person full time shivering into the two Barrows alternating each one and the other two barrowing. My daughter had a shovel and al was doing her best in the garden to keep the stuff where we wanted it as it naturally wanted to spread . And gloves! Lots of decent gloves to avoid blisters. Plenty of drinks and a take away for after . If you aren't used to physical work, deep heat for the day after. My 4 were groaning and hobbling like octogenarians.

Thanks for replying @ChiefBabySniffer, I’ve had a response from one company who think they can crane it over despite the overhead cables, we shall see!

Haven't done it with topsoil but I did single-handedly transfer the contents of a "bag" of shingle from the pavement to the back of my garden via the side alley. It took me three days in total (not all day!) but spread over 4-5 days. Is shingle heavier than soil? I wasn't filling the wheelbarrow to capacity, just full enough to be able to push it fairly easily. Strenuous work (especially the shovelling) so I paced myself so I wouldn't strain myself, hence the 3 days.

Damp soil will be heavier, but there's not much you can do about that.

It doesn't take as long as you think. We did 3 bulk bags of gravel in a day and we had quite far to go with the wheelbarrow. Why don't you speak to a local landscaping company/builder to see if you can buy some of their time to shift it? Or do you have any friends with fit teenagers who would like to earn some cash?

I got a bulk bag’s worth of topsoil delivered as a pallet of 25 individual bags - 625l in total - so that was pretty easy to move quickly into my back garden from the kerb. It was a bit more expensive (maybe an extra £25 on top of the bulk bag delivery price - can’t quite remember) but shovelling half-a-tonne of soil was not an option for me at the time so I was happy to pay extra.

Is it for the front garden or your back garden? If it is for the front, you can ask for them to hover it over your garden and slice the bag from underneath to empty the contents. Or alternatively if it isn't for the front get them to stack them 2 high in the garden as long as it is safe, meaning you can slice down the front of the top bag, a shovel and gravity help release it, less weight on the shovel, easier on the arms.

Do the same when you come to the bottom bag, slice down the bag giving you more access rather than shovelling it from the top.
