Same veg plots as last year?

I’m still very much a beginner and I created a number of veg plots last year. I had more success than I thought I would for my first year. The soil is much sandier down one side of the garden than the other. The potatoes, onions and sweet corn were particularly successful (these were mostly down the sandier side). With that in mind as I’ve added more plots this year - should I put the same veg back in the same beds that they did well in or is it better to rotate?

It’s recommended to rotate your crops. A rough rule is not to put root veg in the same spot, rotate them with beans, brassicas etc.

Thank you, that is what I will do then. It’s so tempting to replicate what went well (if you don’t know any better), my spuds and onions kept us going through winter - so really want them to do well again - I’ll rotate.

It’s recommended to rotate a) to avoid build up diseases specific to one group of plants b) to avoid growing particularly greedy plants in the same place every year. In practice, a garden is probably too small for a) to be effective. So try to rotate but don’t get hung up on it.
