Quick climbers for new arch

I’ve got a new 2.5m arch to go in a south facing position with some afternoon shade. I’m thinking rose, honeysuckle or jasmine but can’t pin down how long they would take to cover the arch. I reckon sweet peas will provide most of the interest this year but any suggestions?

I would put in what you want for the long term then additionally for this year add a couple of cup and saucer vines- a purple one and a white one. These will do well by later this year and make it look like there for a bit.

If you are in the south and it’s a mild winter they may survive and do another year. Meanwhile you keep feeding and watering the long term plants.

Not a great photo but that’s what is on the arch here.

There is a pink climbing rose on the left, a chocolate vine and clematis on the right, the bulk of the foliage is the cup and saucer vine.

I can't get the picture to post

Long term, I'd go for Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) instead of the jasmine. It smells as good if not better, has a longer flowering season and keeps its leaves in all but the harshest winters.

Clematis Montana, smells devine and very quick growing.

Thank you all. I have looked up the cup and saucer vine and it looks ideal for this year. I’ve already got a star jasmine against a wall which I got last year but it didn’t put on much growth. It has kept it’s leaves though so maybe it will take off this year. It did smell delicious!
I have killed every clematis I’ve planted although I suspect the rabbit colony which uses my garden as a canteen had something to do with that.

I'm planting a star jasmine on mine this year as it looked sadly bare over winter! I only installed the arch last year. I planted clematis either side, a pink jasmine, cup and saucer vines, nasturtium and a few runner beans Smile

Clematis Montana reubens is a thug, but very quick growing. I'd work on planting it for instant cover then digging it up!
