I posted this photo on here last spring asking for help to resurrect these plants, I'm not a natural gardener and alas they didn't make it.

Sadly my DF died very suddenly before Christmas and I would like to plant a rose bush here, I had white roses at my wedding and he said to me how much he loved them, I can't get to the cemetery easily so would like something at home I can look at.

Garden is North facing but large and gets lots of sun in spring/summer but the ground here is very clay like soil, how do I make this work.

Help me find a Rose that will survive in this part of my garden please.

What about something like this OP

Roses like clay soil, so that shouldn't be a problem, and if it get lots of sun in the spring/summer then I think a rose bush would be very happy there.

I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

So sorry to heat about your dad. Finding the right rose is so special. I planted one for my younger brother called Remember me but that's a peach colour. There is a lovely white rose called Wedding Day if that brings nice memories with him. Also there are a couple of pink/red roses called My Dad and My Lovely Dad. It might be worth looking to see if there any roses that incorporate his name. If you have clay soil the rose should be fine in that location. Good luck with your search.

Those are lovely Thesweetest

Thanks for the ideas and very reassuring to know the soil won't be an issue as that was my biggest worry.

There's a very pale pink, almost white climbing rose, David Austin that a friend of mine had on a north facing wall, and it was absolutely fine. Just check out their shade tolerant roses... If only I could remember the type

"Iceberg" is a really good doer. It is very forgiving and flowers really well and doesn't mind a bit of shade.

I planted this

For my late husband on what would have been his 60th birthday.
It is a hybrid tea rose that flowers all summer long.

I've found one named after him, I never would have thought to look for that, thank you so much for that suggestion.
