Are my sweetpea seedlings doomed?

I have noticed a white mouldy layer on the compost of my seedlings. I have wedged the greenhouse door open now and the window has always been open.
Is there anything I can do, shall I scrape it off or will they rot?
I am very much a novice at this!

They look ok to me, the mould is probably just dampness. You could repot them into small pots with fresh compost.

Thanks Beebumble2 I will do that.

Are you sure it's mould? Soil often gets a white crustiness on top, I don't know what it is, presumably some sort of mineral deposition.

Remember sweet peas are all bred form a wild species, Lathyrus odoratus, which grows happily without any gardener to defend it from nasties. If you're worried about it, I'd be inclined to scrape it off rather than repot, as they're still quite small. If you repot, hold them by the leaves - the stems will still be fragile at that age.

MereDintofPandiculation Thanks for the advice, I opened one of the trays and the roots were only a third of the way down so I think scraping it off will be good idea. It seems like mould its very soft and "fluffy" not dry and crusty.

I think it’s some sort of completely harmless mould. I find it a lot on supermarket houseplants after a while and I think you’re meant to scrape it off but it doesn’t do any harm.

I'm not sure about the mould, but I would start to bring them outside during the day - in a nice sunny spot. They're looking a bit leggy - they could do with a bit of cold & sunshine I think?

Harmless mould that grows on wet soil. You’ve watered a bit too much. Just reduce watering. They are a bit leggy though and need more light.

Get them outside in the daylight each day. You've over watered which creates the white mould. It can cause the stems to rot so keep a close eye. I've various seedlings growing atm, I set them out for as many daylight hours as possible to stop them from stretching and becoming weak. Good luck.

Thanks everyone, I scraped it off today and added a little compost. I will bring them out now during the day once this horrific wind has gone. It’s been atrocious weather here today.
