Tell me your fantasy plants...

... you know you have them! Those plants that you can't have (too big, wrong soil, wrong light, etc).

I love Gunnera manticata, but at full size it would take up about a quarter of my garden!

Same for Viburnum opulus (guelder rose). It would be perfect for this one spot in my front border... if it wasn't so big!

What would you have in your garden if there were no barriers to growing?

I've got a few rescued Acers I stole from my sons garden when he was having landscaping done, had to move them at completely the wrong time of year but they have both flourished. I want to put more in this year as they love the soil around the pond.
Only thing I dont like is there is no interest with them in winter.

Oh I'd love a monkey puzzle tree too. And an avenue of cherry trees. Sadly, our garden is far too small.

Love I have an acer from Morrisons in a pot too. My mum rescued it from the reduced shelf, and it was 10pence! Five or so years on, it is doing well. It’s pretty with a variegated leaf and is really low maintenance. No idea what variety it is though.

All my acers have come from Morrisons and have been great, except Going Green. I just don't think it was hardy enough for our garden.

Wisley got some gorgeous effects with lights under their acers over winter.

I would love to have space for some fruit trees (apple, pear, damson), but only place to put them would be in west facing border over flowers, or the middle of the lawn, which would make too much shade on already dim kitchen.

I want a room full of exotic houseplants. Only we live in a small, cluttered house and there isn't room for an indoor jungle. I'd also be worried about condensation as we get black mould on some of the walls in the winter.
