Thought it might be nice to have a splash of colour. Any ideas (pansies and violas apart?)

those silver leaf plants, small conifer, heather, ivy. I have pots with pansy, conifer, silver plant in. Primulas are flowering as well.

Thanks, @ahhanotheryear

The former suggestion I think are really good for tubs etc - though not as vibrant / trailing as I was hoping for ha going baskets.

Maybe pansies it is.

Cyclamen?

Aridane · 04/10/2020 18:03

They are lovely and bright, aren’t they - are there trailing ones?

They are lovely, I've planted them up in hanging baskets underplanted with tete-a-tete daffodils. I like using vinca to trail round the edges, evergreen with little blue flowers.

I'd go for Fuchsias with some trailing ivy maybe,

Begonias.
You can get "Everlasting" Begonias that flower endlessly, some will trail and hang beautifully.

NanTheWiser · 06/10/2020 22:00

Fuchsias and Begonias won’t be much good in winter, and I’m sure that is what Aridane is asking about.

Winter pansies are probably the most colourful container plants for winter, they are pretty indestructible!

Yes, it’s a splash of (trailing) colour for winter . Pansies it is then
