This corner of our patio is going to get a plant in it. In a container, obvs. I am after ideas for what to get.

The corner gets virtually no direct sun at all but it is open so lots of light about. Ideally, we want something that will look good all year, so evergreen a must. I would prefer it to remain reasonably upright, or not mind getting bits lopped off if it gets too horizontally expansionist. The patio is probably a bit of a cold air trap as the garden slopes uphill, and we are fairly rural, so nothing too tender despite being against the house.

Ideas please!

I have a Fatsia Japonica in the shady corner if my patio. They like a shady spot and have lovely tropicsl looking leaves.

A statue of a naked man... Or a big leafy plant..

A clematis would look nice, there are fewer evergreen ones but would be worth a look as they could be trained up the wall.

I'd put up a trellis and grow wild honeysuckle up the wall.

I would have one big pot with an evergreen I have euonymus green rocket. And then two small pots in front with seasonal plants ( pansies underplanted with bulbs this time of year)

I also have a Fatsia japonica doing well in a similar situation. Lovely, evergreen architectural plant whose glossy leaves reflect the light nicely in shady places.

I was thinking Mahonia which I've seen alot of in shady corners plus the bright yellow over winter makes it look really spectacular. But apparently not great in pots so Mahonia Caress is a good option and won't take your eye out if a bit short sightedted like meSmile

we have a camellia in a pot which seems to do fine without direct sunlight. and gives lovely flowers in the winter

Came on to say camellia too. It has the most lovely green sheen on its leaves all year around although mine has never flowered and grows up rather than out.
