East facing front patch - what would you do?

Looking for some inspiration for this patch at the front of our new house please!

Its an end terrace cottage, steps up to the front door and to the left of those steps is a patch, held up by a retaining wall, probably 1.5m x 1.5m.

This patch sits under the living room window, so I'd like something low maintenance but big enough to sort of break up the 'view' from the lounge window. 'view' = of TK Maxx over a main road.....

Any ideas?

Plant a mini wildflower meadow.

So you're looking for a shrub or very small tree, not too dense, so you have something that breaks up the view and causes your eye to focus close to rather than across the road?

Or perhaps some low growing bird friendly stuff and a bird feeder?

Viburnum Kilimanjaro or a hydrangea paniculata or a mountain ash or v small cherry tree. They all lose their leaves but still provide structure.

You can prune an evergreen shrub as a "standard" so you will have a small and compact tree with small roots. Ligustrum, laurel, aucuba are fast growing, evergreen and easy to keep as "standard". Something like this one/downloaded from Internet/. Or a small conifer.
